I am a better Conservative than Frank Roche could ever hope to be.

Dear 4th District Executive Committee Members:

As Republicans, we have a hard fight in front of us, as the Obama administration and the Congress under control of the Democrats press hard their liberal agenda. The battle won't stop with health care reform, or cap & trade legislation.

To defeat the agenda of the Left, a concerted effort by right minded Americans will be critical. In the 4th district of North Carolina, it's even more critical.

To remove David Price from his long held seat, an early unified effort must be put forth by we Republicans. The divisions of the '08 election have to be put behind us.

I understand many are disappointed by BJ Lawson's recent announcement not to run for US Congress this cycle. I'm sure it was a difficult decision for BJ to make. I'm doing all I can to reach out to BJ's supporters to let them know BJ and I share the same core beliefs.

We cannot allow that disappointment to cloud our vision of the goal: defeating David Price and returning a Representative to Congress motivated by conservative principles.

I submit, you now have before you, a strong candidate in Frank Roche. Roche for Congress can succeed.

As best I can discern, no Republican candidate has started as early as I have to regain the 4th district seat.

I line up, with one or two exceptions, nearly word for word with the NC Republican platform. I am well educated, with excellent work experience uniquely related to the troubles which confront our nation, and our state at this time in our history. I know the issues. I know the problems, and the courage to directly point out which side of them David Price is on. My public persona as a politician, and my public speaking skills are improving every day.

I am prepared to sacrifice nearly 18 months of my personal and professional life to help put America back on her correct historical pathway. Without a unified and early effort, my task becomes significantly more difficult.

A primary with two strong candidates, as would have been the case between BJ and myself, can easily be argued as a positive for the party. Absent two strong candidates, the primary challenge becomes markedly less likely to be anything positive.

I know one member of the 4th district executive committee is speaking the name, George Hutchins, in the same sentence as mine, when asked if there is going to be a primary. This is somewhat of a concern, since I had already taken the time to learn about Mr. Hutchins.

I give Mr. Hutchins thanks and credit for serving in the military and defending us all.

However, is this the type of candidate an executive committee member should be advocating for? The type of rhetoric Mr. Hutchins uses is a type we need to step away from, not embrace by way of official inclusion.

We can only beat David Price by getting registered Democrats to vote for a Republican. A Republican with a message of which some parts can appeal to Democrats.

Does a candidate like Mr. Hutchins have a chance of success given what we read on his website, and the manner in which it is presented?

I would argue he does not.

I understand the ethical constraints Republicans have imposed on themselves regarding candidate support, or selection. However, we must consider what are true goal is in the 4th...winning!

We win with an excellent candidate, supported by a unified party early on, and by raising records amount of money.

This is not so much about Frank Roche, or BJ Lawson, or anyone on the executive committee. This is more about our country and the peril it faces from the ideology of the Left. We need to get behind the candidate sooner rather than later.

In that spirit, the Orange County executive committee has already endorsed my candidacy.

I have the pleasure of knowing many of you on the committee. You know I'm serious, motivated, and ready to do the work. The clearer we can make the path, the greater our chances of success.

I plan to attend the next 4th district executive committee meeting as a guest to meet those of you whom I've not yet had a chance to get to know. I will be prepared to answer any and all questions you may have of me. I look forward to working with you all to help bring about victory in November 2010.

It can only happen if we get a head start, and do so as one.
